Another moment of great promises for the Filipino film industry.
Last August 3, the 14th season of the Cinemalaya Philippine Independent Film Festival was formally opened at the heart of the country’s cultural majesty, the Cultural Center of the Philippines (CCP).
The event was graced by the filmmakers of competing entries for full-length and short film categories, officials from Cinemalaya and the CCP and over a thousand of new and long-time Cinemalaya spectators inside the revered Tanghalang Nicanor Abelardo.
This year’s opening film was Erik Matti’s “Buybust” starring Anne Curtis whose presence made the night more special.
The venue was at its full capacity despite Buybust’s commercial run prior to its gala night at the Cinemalaya.
The Main Theater was filled with action-packed reaction and emotion for almost two hours which was definitely rare for a Cinemalaya opening film.
After the screening, Curtis expressed her awe on the audience’s ultra-positive reception, leaving her almost speechless and teary-eyed.
#Cinemalaya14 will run until August 12, 2018 at the CCP and in selected Ayala Cinemas nationwide.
